Campden BRI researchers win awards

Both Edyta Margas and Danny Bayliss of Campden BRI have received awards at the 100th International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) Meeting in Milwaukee, USA (31st July - 3rd August 2011) - a major international food safety conference.

Edyta and Danny were entered into the Developing Scientist Award Programme, which is for the best three presentations given at the event. There is a pre-selection of just 10 students, - who must be currently undertaking MSc or PhD programmes, so both did very well to get through this process, which is based on written papers. Following their excellent presentations Danny was placed third and Edyta second - each receiving a cash prize at the conference award ceremony.

Edyta presented her work on survival of Salmonella in dry environments - you can listen to her talking about this in a podcast we recorded last year. Danny presented his work on 'cold plasma technology', as part of a joint project between Campden BRI and Loughborough University - and he has also done a podcast."
