Pesticide use in protected crops
From March 2010 newsletter
We have recently been awarded a new project funded by the European Food
Safety Authority (EFSA) to collect and evaluate current information on pesticide
use in protected crop systems (fruits, vegetables, flowers and ornamentals) in the
UK, Netherlands, Hungary and Poland. The survey, in the form of a short
questionnaire, will cover pesticide application methods, crop types, growing
methods and irrigation techniques. Grower involvement in this project survey
work will be crucial, as the data gathered will represent an accurate update of
current practices in each of the four countries. EFSA intends to use the
information to compile a comprehensive guidance document on current practices
in a number of European countries.
The project work will be managed by Campden BRI in collaboration with the
NFU Horticulture Board.
