Nutritional analysis testingFrom May 2008 newsletter
Nutritional content of food has a high profile. Companies must have robust data to support on-pack labelling. Our nutritional analysis services provide companies with the support they need, though our services are about more than just product testing. Richard Butler, Food Composition Laboratory Manager, explains:
"We offer all the analyses you would expect including carbohydrates, fats, fibre and so on. But more than this, we also advise clients on what analyses they need to get the information they require. We assist with interpretation, especially in relation to more complex aspects such as meat content or energy calculations.
We give guidance on sampling - the types and numbers of samples required for a meaningful result, as well as the practicalities of how samples should be taken, transported and stored. We help clients troubleshoot when they face problems. Our services are UKAS accredited and we regularly ensure that our own performance is first class by participating in proficiency schemes.
We differ from other testing suppliers in that we can call upon the expertise of many other specialists - in food legislation and product development, for example. In short, we work with the client to tailor our services to provide exactly what they need - please contact me to find out more."
