We are the UK's leading centre for alcoholic beverage research, covering all matters related to beer,
wine and spirit development, production and analysis.

Position

You’ll lead the existing team to manage, develop and grow the analytical testing and consultancy
services of our Wines & Spirits section. You’ll mentor, motivate and develop the team to deliver
excellent services to our clients, who include UK vineyards, UK bottlers of imported bulk wine and
bottled wine, retailers and distilleries.

Requirements

You’ll have global and UK wines’ experience, a degree or MSc in Chemistry or Wine– likely to be a
recognised expert in field, with multiple years interpreting chemical and sensory data for wine,
understanding wine processes, wine bottling, wine importing processes and identifying faults.

You’ll run the medium sized team to deliver results, projects and budgets in agreed timescales. You’ll
ensure the fast-paced laboratory is run efficiently, safely and provides high quality results.

You’ll be an excellent communicator who enjoys advising clients, attending and talking at wine
industry events and conferences. There’s also a huge opportunity to work with the Director to set
out the strategy for this area.
