Analytical Services

Position

​To lead and manage the operations of Analytical Services at the Chipping Campden site, in particular issues relating to efficient laboratory operation: effective processes to deliver accurate and informative support for clients, lead a large team to deliver on time and to budget targets, develop scientific capabilities; manage, develop and flex staff resources, facilities and equipment; budgets and financial performance; service standards, quality and health & safety.

Requirements

  • ​Degree in relevant science plus 10 years’ wide-ranging experience in chemical & analytical science
  •  Experience of leading laboratory operations in a large volume commercial laboratory
  •  Wide experience of leading people, creating clarity, coaching, and inspiring performance
  • Acknowledged technical expertise in area relevant to departmental activities
  • Broad knowledge of the analytical requirements for the food and beverage industry, to include inorganic and organic analysis of contaminants, nutrients, and functional components.
  • A working knowledge of the analytical techniques and instrumentation used within the 4 operational analytical Sections.

  • Experience of leading and implementing efficiency changes; always seeking improvements and increased capacity

  •  Proven competence in managing timely and cost-effective delivery of technical services
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  •  Knowledge of the needs of the food and related industries would be desirable
  • Experienced in the implementation of quality/business management systems and the requirements of the ISO 17025 standards.
