About Dan Hall
Dan Hall has worked at Campden BRI since 2011 across several departments. Dan gained a degree in Chemistry from the University of Wolverhampton whilst working full time, focusing on biodegradable polymers for his dissertation and has continued his relationship with the university by returning to deliver lectures on quality assurance and lab management.
For 4 years Dan worked in the Chemistry and Biochemistry department at Campden BRI as a lab technician, specialising in flavour and taint analysis as well as olive oil authentication. Dan also spent a year in the Primary Production and Processing Department building knowledge in cereals and rheology.
Dan currently works in the Product Innovation team in the Food Manufacturing Technologies department, which involves delivering pilot-scale development combined with a new product development approach. With over 3000m2 of pilot plant to use, this can encompass a wide range of product types and manufacturing techniques. Specialist areas include: product development of beverages, heat preserved foods, fresh produce among others; utilising food waste; continuous and batch processing; food chemistry and biochemistry. Dan has written articles on food waste and also written publications as part of Campden BRI’s member funded research programme.
