About Geoff Taylor
Geoff Taylor joined the wine industry after graduating in Biochemistry in 1976 and has spent his entire working life therein. His first role was in the laboratory testing wines and spirits before moving on to Production Management then Technical Manager. In 1981 he joined the Berry Group of Companies as their Chief Chemist in charge of all Wines and Spirits production and two laboratories. During this time he produced well over 1 million litres of wine and circa half a million litres of spirits. Most of this was destined for major UK Supermarket groups.
In 1988 he founded Corkwise, a niche wine analysis and consultancy business which quickly grew to become the UK's major wine analysis centre. The business was sold in 2005 and is now part of Campden BRI. The name is no longer used but Geoff’s services are retained in view of his vast experience. He has travelled much, visiting most of the World’s major wine producing regions, writes articles for trade magazines, is a contributor to The Oxford Companion to Wine, has appeared on national TV (BBC2's Food & Drink) and is a regular Expert Witness.
Campden BRI are the approved testing laboratory (both analysis and sensory approval) for the UK’s growing wine industry and are helping to ensure that only the highest quality wines reach the consumer, via analysis and consultancy advice. The UK is also a major centre for bottling imported bulk wines (some use the UK as a bottling and distribution centre for Europe). The company work very closely with these organisations testing wines pre and post shipment, training staff and consultancy.
