Benefits of attending
Understanding origins of beer flavour and the impact of raw materials on beer flavour is essential knowledge for anyone producing, selling or buying beer. This interactive course will include tastings of malt, hop and yeast derived flavours using the Campden BRI Aroma kit and tutored tastings of beers and include tutored tastings of beers demonstrating specific flavour characteristics.
This course covers the origins of beer flavour with samples to demonstrate the various individual flavour notes. Flavours covered include those derived from malts, hops and fermentation. Delegates will be introduced to a systematic approach to the evaluation of beer quality in order to develop their understanding of beer flavours. This session will include tutored tasting of beers demonstrating individual flavour characteristics. Part of this training will be conducted using BRI flavour kits.
At the end of the course, delegates will:
- Demonstrate a basic knowledge of the origins of beer flavour and the contributions of raw materials to beer flavour
- Demonstrate a unified and systematic approach to beer flavour evaluation
