We provide the food and drink industry with the practical scientific, technical and advisory services needed to ensure product safety and quality, process efficiency and product and process innovation.
Our services can loosely be categorised under four pillars:
Analysis and testing - microbiological, chemical, physical and sensory analytical services - helping to ensure safety and optimise product quality
Operational support - helping companies 'do the day job'. Troubleshooting manufacturing problems - ingredients, processing, packaging, advising on hygienic design and maintenance, supporting implementation of systems such as HACCP and risk management, and helping with product development
Research and Innovation – industrially relevant research chosen and funded by members, as well as work for government departments and agencies
Knowledge Management - industrial best practice guideline publications, a wide range of training courses, seminars and conferences, and expert technical and legislation information and advice
All supported by modern food process halls and dedicated pilot plant facilities, as well as modern analytical laboratories - see some of this in action on our video pages.
Much of our work is on a strictly confidential basis for individual companies - but you can read some examples where clients have given permission to talk about their work in our client case studies.
Industrial relevance is maintained via frequent meetings with our thirteen member interest groups.
We have achieved 9001 certification for all UK activities. Many of the technical services are UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) 17025 accredited.
