What you’ll be doing

Passionate about chemistry and ready to put your degree to work in a dynamic, client-facing laboratory environment?

We're looking for a Senior Laboratory Technician (G2) to join our Analytical Services team at our Chipping Campden site, with a start date of March/April 2025. This is a predominantly laboratory-based, on-site role and, due to our rural location, applicants will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.


Your day-to-day tasks will include:


  • Undertaking routine and bespoke analysis of food and associated materials using advanced instrumental techniques including GC/MS/MS, LC/MS/MS, HPLC, and ICP
  • Booking in samples, preparing samples, and reporting results accurately to clients
  • Producing accurate laboratory records, calculating results, collating data, and preparing analytical reports
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving issues with complex equipment and methods with minimal supervision
  • Coordinating and prioritising your own workload to meet client deadlines
  • Assisting with the training and technical supervision of junior team members
  • Supporting method research and development and contributing to proficiency testing
  • Maintaining quality standards in line with Campden BRI's business management system
  • Shared responsibility for ordering reagents, consumables, and reference materials
  • Contributing to ongoing improvement and efficiency activities across the team


What we’re looking for

  • A degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline
  • A-level Chemistry at grade A or B (or equivalent)
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to compile clear scientific reports and interact confidently with clients
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage complex, multi-project workloads
  • A methodical, proactive approach and a commitment to quality
  • Computer literacy and general technical competence
