Campden BRI offer microbiology analytical testing and consultancy services, including: analytical testing, safety and spoilage, molecular and microbiology methods, emerging microbiology, brewing microbiology research, industrial heat process microbiology and quality laboratory audit.


What you’ll be doing

The Central Preparation Unit (CPU) is the engine room that keeps all this running. Without a reliable supply of sterilised media, clean equipment and well-managed consumables, the science simply can't happen.

This is an excellent stepping stone for anyone with an interest in science who wants to experience a professional laboratory environment from the inside.


Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Preparing and sterilising growth media to support testing and research activities across the department
  • Cleaning, sterilising and maintaining glassware and laboratory equipment ready to use
  • Managing safe decontamination and disposal of laboratory waste in line with strict safety protocols 
  • Maintaining the CPU area to a high standard, including routine housekeeping and equipment checks 

What we’re looking for

You don't need previous laboratory experience, we'll give you everything you need to get up to speed.


You'll be a good fit if you have:

  • A practical, hands-on approach
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own priorities
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in recording information and following procedures 
  • An interest in science or microbiology
