Campden BRI offer microbiology analytical testing and consultancy services, including: analytical testing, safety and spoilage, molecular and microbiology methods, emerging microbiology, brewing microbiology research, industrial heat process microbiology and quality laboratory audit.

Microbiology- Central Preparation Unit

The Central Preparation Unit (CPU) is the engine room that keeps all of this running. Without a reliable supply of sterilised media, clean equipment and well-managed consumables, the science simply can't happen. That's where you come in.

This is an excellent stepping stone for anyone with an interest in science who wants to experience a professional laboratory environment from the inside.

This role is based on-site Monday-Friday 8:45AM-5:15PM with an early finish on a Friday.

Due to our rural location, we will require someone to be able to drive and hold a valid driving license.

What you’ll be doing

Preparing and sterilising growth media to support testing and research activities across the department
Cleaning, sterilising and maintaining glassware and laboratory equipment ready for use
Managing safe decontamination and disposal of laboratory waste in line with strict safety protocols
Delivering consumables and materials to labs and collecting from Good in as required
Maintaining the CPU area to a high standard, including routine housekeeping and equipment checks
Keeping accurate records or work completed using the departments Business Management System
Supporting the CPU & Procurement Manager with any other reasonable duties as the team requires

What we’re looking for

You don't need previous laboratory experience, we'll give you everything you need to get up to speed.

A practical, hands on approach
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own priorities
Accuracy and attention to detail in recording information and following procedures
An interest in science or microbiology
Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and system use

You must live locally to our site in Chipping Campden and have your own transport, as the site is not served by public transport.
