The group meets to discuss:

  • Standards and guidelines relating to thermal processing (IFTPS/FDA/Codex etc)
  • Evaluation of new technologies used in thermal processing (pasteurisation and sterilisation systems)
  • Best practice and methodologies for validating thermally processed foods (raw material considerations, product preparation, novel ingredients etc)

The group plays a significant role in discussing topical issues relating to heat preservation and thermal process technologies. It also steers work undertaken in the area of thermal processing as part of the Campden BRI Member Funded Research (MFR) programme and reports into the Processing, operations and preservation MIG.
