Natural toxins

Natural toxins and allergens

Many foods naturally contain chemicals - or chemicals are produced during processing of food - that are toxic to a greater or lesser degree. The potential problems of this are wide ranging, but our teams can help you decide what these are and carry out analyses to see if a hazard exists in your products. Among the many tests we can perform are those for:

  • Phytohaemagglutinins / lectins
  • Mycotoxins - including ochratoxin, aflatoxin, zearalenone, patulin, sterigmatocystin
  • Furans
  • Acrylamide
  • Metals - lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic
  • Glucosinolates
  • Glycoalkaloids
  • Alkaloids - caffeine and theobromine
